Hello, my name is Jack Smirk, I a graduate in Film and Television at Solent University Southampton. During my studies I had multiple opportunities to make short films, both with a script and without. I have been able to gain a wider knowledge of how this industry works and learned new ways to shoot and edit projects.
My strongest achievement is my final major project, a solo documentary called “The Jurassic Coast: The Past, Preserved in Rock. The Future, Shaped by The Sea”. The film runs twelve minutes and covers the coastline, its geology, and its visual detail. I handled every stage myself, from planning, script writing, research, filming, and editing. The process showed my ability to build a full project with a clear structure and a focused message. Feedback from viewers strengthened my confidence and confirmed the value of the work.
Through all the work I've done and everything that I've learned and picked up on the way, it's only helped me to consolidate my passion for filmmaking. I love the process of filming; taking the footage captured and creating a product that the audience and customer are happy with gives me great satisfaction.
Now my time at Solent University has come to an end I am looking to get into the industry and make some create videos that will be seen by thousands.
